[d] Neue Single: Lightbringer
Heute morgen bekamen wir eine Nachricht von Covenant: "Grüße aus dem Studio! Wir befinden uns in der finalen Phase der Fertigstellung unserer Single und stehen kurz davor, Release-Daten für unser Album und unsere Single zu nennen. Die Single wird "Lightbringer" heißen und ist in Zusammenarbeit mit einer anderen schwedischen Band entstanden. Mehr Infos in Kürze...
Wir werden eine Vinyl-Edition in einer Auflage von 500 Stück von United States of Mind herausbringen - zusammen mit Dependent und emmo.
Joakim sagt allen Hallo. Gestern haben wir zusammen an Remixen für das neue Stück gearbeitet, allerdings wird er vorerst nicht bei Konzerten dabei sein."

This morning, we got a message from Covenant: "Greetings from the studio! We are in the final phase of finishing our new single and we are about to confirm release dates of single and album. The new single will be called "Lightbringer" and is a collaboration with another Swedish band. More info soon...
We will release a vinyl edition 500 copies of United States of Mind with dependent and emmo.
Joakim says hi to all. We were working together in the studio yesterday on the remixes of the new track but he wont join any concerts for now."

[d] Neuer Covenant Song!
Offenbar haben sich Covenant an einem Musik-Contest zum deutschen Horror-Film "Wir sind die Nacht" beteiligt. Aufgabe war, unter Verwendung von Filmsamples einen Club-Track zu produzieren. Covenants Beitrag, der einfach nach dem Film benannt ist, hat es nun ins Finale geschafft. Jetzt wird online abgestimmt. Der Gewinnertrack soll eine Club-Szene im Film untermalen und kommt natürlich auf den offiziellen Soundtrack.
Bis zum 29. August kann man HIER die Finalisten anhören und abstimmen - natürlich am besten für Covenant. "Wir sind die Nacht", der übrigens in Berlin spielt, kommt im Herbst in die Kinos.

[e] New Covenant Song!
Apparently Covenant have taken part in a music contest for the German horror film "Wir sind die Nacht" ("We are the Night"). The assignment was to produce a club track using samples from the film. Covenant's entry, which is simply named after the film, has made it to the list of finalists. Now the winning entry is being voted for online. The winning track will be used in a club scene in the film and will appear on the official film soundtrack.
Until August 29th the finalists can be listened to and voted on HERE and naturally the best would be to vote for Covenant! "Wir sind die Nacht", wich is set Berlin by the way, will be released in theaters in fall.

[d] Neues aus dem Studio
Um es vorweg zu nehmen: Ein offizielles Release-Datum für "Modern Ruin" oder die bisher namenlose Vorabsingle gibt es noch immer nicht. Wir haben allerdings das Gefühl, das sich das bald ändern könnte. Trotzdem: Warum lassen Covenant ihre Fans eigentlich so lange auf ihr neues Werk warten? - Manchmal müsse man eben innehalten und über sich selbst nachdenken, über das Leben und das was man tut und darüber, ob es das ist was man will, erklärt Eskil. Und man sei zu dem Schluss gekommen, das es das ist! Ein Glück für alle Covenant-Fans!
Und wie wird es klingen, das neue Album? Einige Stücke konnte man ja bereits live erleben. Eskil hält sich derweil noch bedeckt: Man könne ein klassisches Covenant Album erwarten, das sowohl neue, als auch alte Elemente enthalte. Auch Daniel Myer sei am Songwriting beteiligt gewesen. Insgesamt habe man bisher recht gutes Feedback bezüglich der neuen Songs bekommen.
Nach einen kurzen Urlaub auf der schwedischen Insel Öland, arbeitet Eskil nun weiter am Album und an der neuen Single. Einige Remixe gäbe es auch schon, heißt es. Joakim konzentriert sich zur Zeit etwas mehr auf sein Privatleben, weswegen er in der Vergangenheit bei einigen Shows nicht dabei war und von Daniel Jonasson (Dupont) vertreten wurde.
Wir verharren weiter in Spannung und halten Euch auf dem Laufenden!

[e] News from the Studio
To get it out of the way, there is still no official release date for "Modern Ruin" or the as-yet unnamed single. We have the feeling that this could change soon however. Still, why have Covenant let their fans wait so long for their new work? Eskil explains that occasionally you must pause to think about yourself, about life, what you do, and whether or not it is what you want to do. - And Covenant came to the conclusion that it is! Good news for all Covenant fans!
And how will the new album sound? A few songs have already been experienced live. In the meantime, Eskil remains a bit reserved with information about the album: one can expect a classic Covenant album that contains new as well as old elements. Also, Daniel Myer has taken part in the songwriting. Overall, quite positive feedback has been received regarding the new songs.
After a short vacation on the Swedish island of Öland, Eskil is continuing to work on the album and new single. Word is that there are already a few remixes. At the moment Joakim is concentrating a bit more on his private life, which is why Daniel Jonasson (Dupont) covered for him at a few shows in the past

[d] Modern Ruin - (Keine) Spekulationen
Über das Erscheinen von Modern Ruin und einer evtl vorher erscheinenden EP bzw. Single wird derzeit vielerorts spekuliert. Manchmal werden Meldungen von Szenenmagazinen zitiert, manchmal die auf Amazon genannten Veröffentlichungstermine. Fakt ist: Von offizieller Seite gibt es keine konkreten Daten. Auf der offiziellen Website Covenant.se heißt es Mitte Mai: "Wir arbeiten an unserer neuen Single (!), die ziemlich vielversprechend ist und außerdem ein überraschendes Element enthält".
Außerdem sei die Band in ein neues Studio gezogen, offenbar wird dort fieberhaft am neuen Material gearbeitet. Was das Ausrufezeichen hinter dem Wort Single bedeutet, kann nur vermutet werden. Vielleicht will man auf eine bevorstehende Großartigkeit hinweisen oder einfach betonen, dass es sich um eine Single, nicht um eine EP, handelt. Man weiß es nicht genau. ;-)
Wir baten Eskil Anfang der Woche um ein kurzes Statement zu den kursierenden Veröffentlichungsdaten, doch wie erwartet, hält man sich mit dem verfrühten Aussagen zurück. "Wir arbeiten aktuell an der neuen Single, aber es gibt im Moment keine Neuigkeiten." - Man mag über rare Informationen klagen, aber nichts zu sagen, finden wir doch besser als konkrete Termine zu nennen, die dann später nicht eingehalten werden können... Insofern wünschen wir Covenant einfach viel Erfolg, Inspiration und natürlich Spaß bei der Produktion und warten geduldig ab. Rom wurde nicht an einem Tag erbaut!

[e] Modern Ruin - (No) Speculation
There has been lots of speculation in many places about the release of Modern Ruin and a possible pre-release EP or single. Sometimes reports from scene magazines or Amazon release dates are cited. The fact is: from the official sources no concrete dates are given. The official Covenant website, covenant.se, said in the middle of May: "We are right now working on our new single (!) which is quite promising as well as have an element of surprise."
In addition, the band moved to a new studio and have apparently been working feverishly on new material there. What the exclamation point after the word 'single' means can only be imagined. Perhaps it indicates an imminent magnificence, or simply means that it will be a single and not an EP. One can only guess! ;-)
We asked Eskil at the beginning of the week for a short comment regarding the circulating release dates and as expected, one should refrain from believing the rumors: "We are working on our new single now but no news really right now." One can complain about the lack of information, but we think it is better to say nothing than to give concrete release dates that later cannot be met... At this point we simply wish Covenant lots of success, inspiration, and of course fun with the production, and wait patiently for the release. Rome wasn't built in a day!

[d] Wann wird "Modern Ruin" erscheinen? - Mit einem Statement von Covenant
Die Webseite des Sonic Seducer meldet: Das Label SPV wird weitergeführt, es wurde eine Reihe von Veröffentlichungen angekündigt. Im März/April stehe eine EP von Covenant an. Das Album "Modern Ruin" folge im Juni.
Doch diese Daten wurden bisher seitens Covenant weder bestätigt noch dementiert. In einer Mitteilung der Band (bzw. von Eskil Simonsson) an Covenant.de und seine Leser heißt es:
"Wir haben einige Zeit an Modern Ruin gearbeitet, haben also viele großartige Songs und wir freuen uns auf die Veröffentlichung. Unsere deutsche Plattenfirma SPV ist zurück und wir haben grade während der Weihnachtstour neue Release-Daten diskutiert. Wie immer bei großen Labels, benötigt es einige Zeit, die Veröffentlichung anzusetzen und vorzubereiten, aber wir sind nicht in Eile und wollen, dass alles richtig/genau gemacht wird."
Die Tatsache, dass mögliche Veröffentlichungen eben erst mit dem Label diskutiert wurden, lässt die vom Seducer genannten Erscheinungsmonate etwas zu konkret erscheinen. Unserer Einschätzung nach sind diese keinesfalls in Stein gemeißelt! - Eskil fährt fort:
"Es ist noch viel zu tun an der Produktion und Gesangsaufnahmen um alles zu finalisieren und aus einem Guss erscheinen zu lassen. Wir haben jüngst in neue Lautsprecher und Computer investiert, die Zukunft wird also besser denn je klingen. Alles Gute für 2010 - das Jahr in dem wir Kontakt aufnehmen."
Mit diesem Gruß und der Anspielung auf den Filmtitel endet die Mitteillung. Alle, die gespannt auf die Veröffentlichung warten, dürfen also weiter gespannt sein, denn konkrete Daten fehlen leider. Immerhin lässt der während der Christmas Ball Tour gespielte neue Track "I Close My Eyes" schon ein wenig erahnen, wohin die Reise geht. Indes scheint eine Veröffentlichung im Februar sehr unwahrscheinlich.

[e] When will "Modern Ruin" be released? - With a statement from Covenant
The website of Sonic Seducer reports that the SPV record label will stay in business and that there will be a number of releases announced. March or April will see the release of an EP from Covenant while the album "Modern Ruin" will follow in June.
But these dates are not yet confirmed but also not denied by Covenant. Here is a message from Covenant (or rather Eskil Simonsson) to Covenant.de and it's readers:
"We have been working now for some time on Modern Ruin so we have a lot of great songs and I am really looking forward to release it. Our main partner and German recordlabel SPV is back and running and we just met during our Christmas tour to discuss the new release dates. As always with big labels it takes some time to set up and prepare a release but we are not in a hurry and want things to be done properly.
Considering that the release policy has been discussed with the label just a few days ago, the dates mentioned by the sonic seducer seem to be premature. We think that they are definitly not carved in stone! - Eskil goes on:
There is a lot production and vocal recordings left to be done to add the finishing touch so it will all come down together. We have just invested in new great speakers and computers so the future sounds better than ever! - All the best for 2010 - the year we made contact!"
With this greating and an allusion to the film title the message ends. Many People are waiting for the release, but unfortunately there's still a lack of any concrete dates, so the suspense continues. After all the new track "I Close My Eyes", wich has been played on the Christmas Ball tour, indicates again how "Modern Ruin" might sound. However a realease in february seems to be very unlikely.

[d] "Modern Ruin" im Februar 2010?
Auf Amazon kann das Album "Modern Ruin" nun vorbestellt werden. Als Veröffentlichungsdatum wird der 23. Februar genannt. Offiziell wurde der Termin noch jedoch noch nicht bestätigt. Der Preis ist recht hoch, das Album ist jedoch als Import gekennzeichnet. Es scheint außerdem so, als seien zwei Versionen des Albums geplant.

"Modern Ruin" is now available for preorder on Amazon. The release date is listed as 23.
Feb. 2010, however that date is not officially confirmed. The list-price for the album is quite high, but it is marked as an import. It also appears that there are two different versions planned.

[d] "Modern Ruin" verschoben / Joakim bleibt zuhause
Auf der offiziellen Website von Covenant ist seit heute ein Eintrag von Eskil zum Thema "Modern Ruin" zu lesen: "Es ist bereits alles um uns. (...), doch die Veröffentlichung unserer Version steht allerdings noch aus. Die Veröffentlichung wurde bis zum Wiederaufbau unseres (...) Labels SPV in Wartestellung gesetzt.". Eskil teilte außerdem mit, dass Joakim nicht bei den anstehenden US-Konzerten dabei sein werde.

Since today a new entry written by Eskil regarding "Modern Ruin" can be found on the official website of Covenant: "Its all around us already (...) but our version is yet to be released though. As to the reconstruction of our (...) label SPV the release have been put on hold." Eskil also informs the Covenant fans, that Joakim will not take part at the upcoming US concerts.
